While I share my recent hair transformation journey in this video, I also share with you how I keep my hair strong and healthy before and after bleaching and colouring.
I have been diligently caring my hair and feeding it with vitamins and healthy food, making sure it is healthy before I bleached as well as after bleaching.
My 10 Hair Care Tips for Bleached Hair:
1.USE A GOOD SHAMPOO.
Choose one that is Organic, preferably full of natural ingredients and does not contain Sulphate (Sulphate-Free shampoo). BOTANIST BOTANICAL SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER have been the all-time favourite shampoo this year. They are one of the best organic shampoo in Japan and has widely become well-known in Asia.
There is a wide range of Sulphate-Free Shampoo out there in the market. You can always get advice from professional hairstylist on the kind of shampoo that suits your hair condition. I believe that is the best way to find the best shampoo for your hair.
2.TAKE HAIR VITAMINS/SUPPLEMENTS
Note: Please check with your GP before taking any supplements or vitamins!
I personally have been taking SWISSE ULTIBOOST HAIR SKIN NAILS as a supplement for almost a year now. When I first started consuming the supplement, I noticed a big improvement in my skin condition. This supplement supports collagen production, help maintain glossy hair and gives you radiant skin & healthy nails. The ingredient includes SILICA, BLOOD ORANGE and VITAMIN C.
Other vitamins you can take to improve your hair condition includes fish oil, Vitamin B (Biotin), Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Zinc, Iron more details on HealthLine.com.
3.EAT A WELL BALANCED DIET
If you are not the type of person who likes to take supplements or put pills in your mouth, eating a well-balanced diet is the best way to get Healthy strong hair. All the vitamins listed in Tips #2 above can be found in the daily foods we eat. Just make sure you eat healthily and don’t starve yourself!
4.HAIR TREATMENT AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK
Either you do it at home, or at the salon. I highly recommend doing it at least once a week. If you have bleached hair, I would recommend getting OLAPLEX N3 and get your treatment done at home once a week.
Another favourite hair mask of mine is BRITE AUSTRALIA. They have different hair masks that target different hair concern. Their products are cruelty-free and vegan-friendly too!
5.DON’T WASH YOUR HAIR WITH HOT WATER
Yes, you hear me right. I used to LOVE showering with HOT water. But not anymore. Not only it dries up your hair and your scalp, it also dries up your skin and face. I would recommend a lukewarm or cold water. Eventually, you will get used to the cold.
6.DON’T PUT HEAT ON YOUR HAIR TOO OFTEN
When I say put heat, I mean blow drying, Flat Iron or Curling your hair with tools and heat. It dries up and in some cases may burn your hair. If you have to put heat on, remember to put on heat protection beforehand. I don’t usually put heat on my hair (because I super lazy to style my hair lol), which is a good thing for my hair.

7.AIR DRY YOUR WET HAIR/BLOW DRY WITH COLD OR WARM AIR
Air dry your hair is the best way to keep your hair away from dryness. However, many Chinese believe that air drying your hair is bad for your health. Since young, I was told to never ever let my hair air dry. So if you are one of those who believes in the ancient Chinese saying, try to blow dry your hair with cold or warm air instead of hot air. This way you can protect your scalp and your hair.
8.DON’T SLEEP WITH WET HAIR
I understand those days where you are super exhausted and just want to hop on the bed and snooze right after a shower. If that’s the case, try not to wash your hair. Sleeping with wet hair is one of the worst thing ever. Not only you will wake up with frizzy hair, the friction between your wet hair and the pillow will make it really dry.
9.APPLY HAIR OIL/SERUM AFTER WASHING YOUR HAIR
After towel dry your hair, apply a hair oil or serum on your hair, from the top to the end. I focus more on the end of my hair where breakage and dryness tend to occur. You can also use Natural Coconut and Olive Oil if you don’t want to use store bought Hair Oil or Serum.

10.DON’T WASH YOUR HAIR TOO OFTEN (USE DRY SHAMPOO INSTEAD)
Last but not least, don’t wash your hair everyday, or way too often. Washing your hair too often will take away the natural oil on your hair and scalp. It will also ruin your hair colour and fades quicker than you expected. Wash only when you start to feel itchiness on the scalp. I would recommend using DRY SHAMPOO in between washing if you see oil starts to build up on your hair. My favourite Dry Shampoo is BATISTE DRY SHAMPOO.
Again, I would highly recommend consulting a GP as well as your hairstylist about your hair condition and get professional advice from them. That’s the best way to make sure you do not damage your hair as well as your scalp from all the chemicals you were going to put on it.
